Holiness...

If you think you can walk in holiness without keeping up perpetual fellowship with Christ, you have made a great mistake. If you would be holy, you must live close to Jesus. ~ Charles Spurgeon

Give Up...

How does one become a butterfly?...
You must want to fly so much
That you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.

Entertaining Goats?

A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats.
~ C. H. Spurgeon

Outreach

The real problem with the structures of the church is that they do not often allow us to become engaged in the anguish of people whose need, and accents, and ways are different from our own. They do not allow us to feel. It was not enough for Moses to see the misery of a slave people. He had to identity with them–to be able to say ‘my people.'

Faithful Worship

Perhaps the best indicator of faithful worship isn’t the volume of the music or the brightness of the lighting but how many people are sitting on the edge of their seats. ~ C. Weems

Robin and Sparrow...

Said the robin to the sparrow:
'I should really like to know,
why these anxious human beings
rush about and worry so.'

Said the sparrow to the robin:
Friend I think it must be that
they have no Heavenly Father,
such as cares for you and me

Mission Field

There are many mission fields, but family presents what may be the greatest untapped evangelistic opportunity before the church today. What is at stake is the salvation of millions of children under the evangelistic and discipleship ministry of fathers and mothers in the home. This is not the only mission field, to be sure, but it is perhaps the most neglected mission field before the church in our time. ~ Scott Brown

Hope in Him

My personal response to unanswered prayers comes from the wisdom of Job, "yet will I hope in Him" (Job 13:15). ~ Frank Moore

Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him;
I will surely defend my ways to his face. (NIV)

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. (KJV)

Though He slay me,
I will hope in Him.
Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him. (NASB)

God might kill me, but I have no other hope.
I am going to argue my case with him. (NLT)

15 [I do it because, though He slay me, yet will I wait for and trust Him and] behold, He will slay me; I have no hope—nevertheless, I will maintain and argue my ways before Him and even to His face. (AMPC)

Almost...

When you have a great and difficult task, something perhaps almost impossible, if you only work a little at a time, every day a little, suddenly the work will finish itself. — Karen Blixen

Foolish Diversions

There is but little need to spend time with foolish diversions for time flies away so swiftly by itself; and, when once gone, is never to be recalled.

~ William Penn

God Is Awake

Miracles...

The Bible has worked moral miracles by thousands... It has wholly altered the source of men's lives. It has taught worldly people to seek first the kingdom of God...It has taught lovers of pleasure to become lovers of God. It has taught the stream of men's affections to run upwards instead of running downwards. All this it has done in every part of the world. All this it is doing still! ~ J.C. Ryle

The Bible Speaks to Me About My Witness

If we depend mainly on pastors and evangelists for evangelism, there will be little or no growth of the Kingdom. On the other hand, if the great army of the laity can be mobilized, growth will be explosive. Witnessing laymen will strengthen the pulpit, because many people will not believe the preaching of the pulpit until it is backed up by the testimony of the pew. Public testimony, both planned and spontaneous, is a powerful tool for drawing people to Christ. Some will not even make their first step into the church until personal witness has paved the way.

Dust of the Ground

The basic chemicals in our body, can be found in the “dust of the ground.” However, these chemicals cannot arrange themselves into cell tissues, organs and systems. This can only happen with an input of intelligence. ~ Joseph Paturi
