Substantial Christians

Oh for substantial Christians that don’t need coddling and nursing and running after all the time; being pandered to to get them to go on or stand up. Men and women like cedars of Lebanon; like the hewn stones – weighty, accountable, and responsible to carry weight – and all that is meant by strength.

~ T. Austin-Sparks

Too Much Thought...

When we yield to discouragement, it is usually because we give too much thought to the past or to the future. ~ Therese of Lisirux

Alive or Dead?

What we consider "alive," Jesus often calls "dead." Only that which comes from the Spirit Himself is truly alive. ~ Chris Tiegreen

What Is the Soul?

So what is the soul? It is the deepest aspect of ourselves...that cries out for heaven, that is made to be a dwelling place for God. Nothing and no one else can answer that thirst. It is the size of eternity. ~ Sheila Walsh

Difficult to Love

If we find someone is difficult to love, we can invite the Holy Spirit to pour His love into our heart. When His Spirit fills our hearts, His Spirit becomes ours. Then we, too, are "gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love" (Psalm 145:8) ~ Aletha Hinthorne

Humility Is...

Humility is acknowledging I don't have all the facts or all the answers and that other people are probably just doing what I would likely do in the same circumstances. (Circumstances include their own unique baggage, wounds, beliefs, etc)

His Destiny for You...

All the disappointment in the world will never change the promises of God, the reality of Jesus, or His destiny for our lives. God can use your disappointments to set a new trajectory for you, one that gets you closer to your destiny. ~ Christine Caine

What Do You Really Believe?

A man really believes not what he recites in his creed, but only the things he is willing to die for. ~ Richard Wurmbrand

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who destroy both the soul and body in hell. ~ Matthew 10:28 (NIV)

Guard Your Moments

Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.

Place God Wants You...

Never Cease...

Never cease loving a person, and never give up hope for him, for even the prodigal son who had fallen most low, could still be saved; the bitterest enemy and also he who was your friend could again be your friend; love that has grown cold can kindle again."
~ Soren Kierkegaard

Our imagination so powerfully magnifies time, by continual reflections upon it, and so diminishes eternity . . . for want of reflection, that we make a nothing of eternity and an eternity of nothing. . . This is a dangerous game. ~ Blaise Pacal

Good Character

A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble. ~ Charles H. Spurgeon

It Will Be Worth It All...When We see Jesus...

I hope I can be there when you embrace the risen Christ for the first time. When the tough road you have traveled finally comes tot he intersection where you see Christ face to face and you feel the warmth of His embrace. The scars of this life, which you honorably wear, will begin to fade into the unmistakable, overwhelming, love He has for you! You are loved and don't forget it! In the meantime, live loved and love recklessly. ~ John Comstock

Some mothers seem to have the capacity and energy to make their children's clothes, bake, give piano lessons, go to Relief Society, teach Sunday School, attend parent-teacher association meetings, and so on. Other mothers look upon such women as models and feel inadequate, depressed, and think they are failures when they make comparisons... Sisters, do not allow yourselves to be made to feel inadequate or frustrated because you cannot do everything others seem to be accomplishing. Rather, each should assess her own situation, her own energy, and her own talents, and then choose the best way to mold her family into a team, a unit that works together and supports each other. Only you and your Father in Heaven know your needs, strengths, and desires. Around this knowledge your personal course must be charted and your choices made. ~ Marvin J. Ashton

In the Bible...

The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scripture ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. All the miseries and evil men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible. ~ Noah Webster

HIS Plan

If God chooses to have my children become CEOs or to become missionaries, then He will see it through. My job is to seek Him. Obey Him. His plans will unfold for my children, and those plans may be very different from my dreams for them. Ultimately I have to let my children be the person that God called them to be. Not who I want them to be. Not to be like the person down the street. But to be the person that God calls them to be.

~ Karen DeBeus
