Simple and Profound

The things that matter most in our lives are not fantastic or grand. They are moments when we touch one another, when we are there in the most attentive or caring way. This simple and profound intimacy is the love we all long for. ~ Jack Kornfield

Stand in the Gap

Getting people to come is important because you can’t have community without people, but getting people to come is not the end goal. We wanted to create a community that invites people to come experience being deeply known and loved, and an experience so compelling that they become eager to go—to go free the prisoner, feed the hungry, comfort the grieving, love the addicted and mentally anguished, house the homeless and ‘stand in and close the gap’ between those who have what they need to fulfill their God-given potential and those who do not. ~ K. Killian Noe

Are You a Prisoner of War?

Christians can become preoccupied with battling satan. This deceives them to invest their time and energy attempting to do something Christ has already done for them....Fearing satan is fearing a prisoner of war. ~ Henry Blackaby

Go After Jesus...

Oh that we would pursue Christ with half the fervor we pursue Pokemon! ~ Gary O'Shell

The Way Out

There is little sense in believing if at the same time you provide yourself an alternative way out! Faith works most convincingly when there is none! ~ Watchman Nee

After God's Own Heart

The man after God's own heart must be dead to the opinion of his friends as well as his enemies.

Thank HIM

Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do which must be done, whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in you temperance, self-control, diligence, strength of will, content, and a hundred other virtues which the idle never know. ~ Charles Kingsley

For You It Is Sin

Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off the relish for spiritual things then it is sin for you, however innocent it may be in itself. ~ Susanna Wesley

Jesus Loves All People

Jesus loves all people regardless of their social standing, economic circumstances, religious identity, gender, race or background. Jesus came looking for those seeking God and recognizing their need for God's work in their lives. ~ Phil Ware

Enemy of the Best

'The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin but the good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best." ~ Oswald Chambers

Prayer

"My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think I am following your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though
I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me to face my perils alone."
~ Thomas Merton

Self Efforts?

Lord, help us not to be content with tiny self-efforts when you have given us the same Holy Spirit power that filled those who turned the world upside down. Amen. ~ Stan Toler

Marriage...

"In the ultimate sense, your marriage has nothing to do with your spouse. It has everything to do with your relationship to Jesus Christ." ~ Emerson Eggerichs

Wickedness...

Worrying always results in sin. We tend to think that a little anxiety and worry are simply an indication of how wise we really are, yet it is actually a much better indication of just how wicked we are. Fretting rises from our determination to have our own way. Our Lord never worried and was never anxious, because His purpose was never to accomplish His own plans but to fulfill God’s plans. Fretting is wickedness for a child of God. ~ Oswald Chambers

The Life Boat

Social reform without the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is like trying to bail water out of a sinking boat with a teaspoon which is trying to stay afloat on the raging sea of sin. Rearranging chairs on the Titanic does not offer life to anyone. Giving people a life boat is what will save them and Jesus Christ is that life boat. He does more than help us survive. He is the Lighthouse by which all ships align so they can arrive safely to the shore as they enjoy life abundantly in the care of His embrace. ~ John Comstock

Waiting for Life

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there are always some obstacles in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life." ~ Alfred D. Souza.

Fed on Excitement

A church fed on excitement is no new testament church at all. The desire for surface stimulation is a sure mark of the fallen nature, the very thing Christ died to deliver us from.

No Interference

Seek Wholeness

We all stand in need of healing. We are all seeking wholeness. For most of us it is a most urgent and ever-present reality in our lives, one we may perhaps try to bury or neglect but which, if we are honest with ourselves, we find we cannot ignore. We all know also that unless we attend to our inner conflicts and contradictions, not only will we find ourselves torn apart by our inner divisions but also we shall very likely inflict wounds on those around us…. This healing of our divisions, this search for wholeness, must be an ongoing process. There is no once and for all moment when we can say that at last we are whole, the past is buried and over, the hurts forgotten, the wounds healed. Instead we find that it is to be a search that we must expect to continue throughout our lives. ~ Esther de Waal

Broken and Spilled Out

"We are here to submit to His will so that He may work through us what He wants. When we realize this He will make us broken bread and poured-out wine to feed and nourish others." ~ Oswald Chambers

Never Settle

"You are called to be intentional about your Christianity. You must be determined to experience the fullness of God in every area of your Christian life and never settle for a shallow, lackadaisical relationship with Almighty God." ~ Henry Blackaby
