Abusive Leaders
Abusive leaders aren't motivated by love or by what is best for the flock," he says. "They're motivated by what's best for them, by what fills a need in their lives, by how you can advance their cause, using you as their tool rather than serving you for your good. ~ Banning Liebscher

Majoring in the Minors
Most of us are experts at "majoring in the minors" while failing to do the really important things God demands of us. ~ Hamilton

The World Is too Much with Us...
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:
Little we see in nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a solid boon!
The Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.- Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850)

Best Tombstone
A good character is the
best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you
when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on
marble. ~ Charles H. Spurgeon

I Have a Dream...
I have a
dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of
its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created
equal”…I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where
they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their
character. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Moved by Men...
Governments,
like clocks, go from the motion men give them; and as governments are made and
moved by men, so by them they are ruined too… Let men be good, and the
government cannot be bad; if it will be ill, they will cure it. ~ William Penn

The Basis...
“The moral
principles and precepts contained in the Scripture ought to form the basis of
all our civil constitutions and laws. All the miseries and evil men suffer from
vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from
their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.” ~ Noah
Webster

Jesus Defeated Satan
Jesus defeated satan in Gethsemane on the cross, not by directly confronting the devil, but by fulfilling the destiny to which He had been called. The greatest battle that was ever won was accomplished by the apparent death of the victor, without even a word of rebuke to His adversary! ~ Francis Frangipane
