Strange Things...

For all increase, we must leave room for God to do new things, strange things, things we cannot understand for the moment. Are we binding Him to our own fixed judgments? ~ T. Austin-Sparks

Grimace or Delight?

We often feel God grimaces when He sees us coming. Do we really believe that He delights in us?

Activists?

It is a fact that many of our church folks are activists - engaged in many religious journeys - but they do not seem to move up any closer to Jesus in heart and in spirit. ~  A.W. Tozer

Deceived...?

Satan is thrilled with a lot of our church services. We gather together to listen to sermons we don't intend to apply to our lives. We're already deceived. ~ Francis Chan

Christianity is not a behavior modification program, but a heart transformation experience. ~ Andy Andrews

What's Left?

Never measure your generosity by what you give, but rather by what you have left. ~ Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

Body of Christ

The question we must all ask ourselves is this: How honestly are we living within the Body of Christ? Are we really genuine with others? We might as well be transparent now; one day, whether we like it or not, we will be. ~ Chris Tiegreen

Clean Containers

The Father has a lack of clean containers into which He may pour His Spirit. ~ John Bevere

History...

If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of that other world that they have ceased to be effective in this one. ~ C.S. Lewis

Lent Is...

It is not just about giving up our favorite food but its about going further and giving up things like hatred and unforgiveness. You need to clean your heart and prepare yourself for purity. ~ Amanda Jobs

Put Away My Pride

During these 40 days, let me put away all my pride. Let me change my heart and give up all that is not good within me. Let me love God with all that I am and all that I have. ~ Genesis Grain

Prayer & Fasting

You could say that prayer without fasting is like boxing with one hand tied behind your back, and that fasting without prayer is, well, dieting.

Fasting...

Fasting cleanses the soul, raises the mind, subjects one’s flesh to the spirit, renders the heart contrite and humble, scatters the clouds of concupiscence, quenches the fire of lust, kindles the true light of chastity. ~ St. Augustine

Guests in Your Heart?

What other guests do you have in your heart and home that shut out Jesus? For certainly the reason why there is no room is because there others in His place. Is there anybody or anything in all this universe important enough to take His place?
~ Vance Havner

Death of Sin

The only way you can be delivered from that sin is to have your false expectations destroyed, once and for all. And that is precisely what happened between Palm Sunday and Good Friday . Jesus drew the false, sinful expectations of the world unto himself, absorbed them, and bore them on the cross. His death was the death of all of our false expectations, and therefore his death was the death of sin itself. The false piety of Palm Sunday is crucified on Good Friday and buried that night, in order that true faith in God might be created on Easter through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. ~ Edwin Peterman

Joyful News...

The joyful news that He is risen does not change the contemporary world. Still before us lie work, discipline, sacrifice. But the fact of Easter gives us the spiritual power to do the work, accept the discipline, and make the sacrifice.
~ Henry Knox Sherrill

Lent...

...many Christians observe Lent as a meaningful way of meditating on the sufferings of Christ on our behalf. They choose to deny their flesh as a daily reminder that Christ died and rose again to deliver us from slavery to sin and self.

~ Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Season to Remember

This is the season of Lent, a season to remember the sufferings of Jesus Christ. A season to remember that to follow Christ is to take up our crosses and be servants of all. A season to remember Jesus’ question: “Are you able to drink the cup that I drink?” A season to ask ourselves how we might help to bear the cross. A season to ask ourselves how we are afraid and turn away. A season to ask what we have to offer. A season to give sacrificially to others.

Being Loved or Right...

To be known is one of God’s passions. While he desires for us to have the experience of being known by him, just as important is his desire to experience being known by us. This is not simply for our benefit, as if he is not affected by us. He desires to be known by us as much for what it does for him as for what it does for us. And that is why the need to be right about God often gets us into trouble. As a friend of mine once told me, 'Christianity is not about being right. It’s about being loved. ~ Curt Thompson

In Spirit and Truth

Worship God in spirit and truth. Let God be bigger than the boxes created by any assumptions that the Holy Spirit reveals. Let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth and counsel you. Press in.  The glory of God is bigger than our assumptions. ~ John Comstock

The greatest temptation is not be angry with God, but to gradually ignore Him to the point where He is no longer relevant for those things that are important features of our lives. ~ Charles Ringma

The father of lies"

"The father of lies will try to deceive us in many ways. But he seems to have an over-arching strategy that is two-fold: 1. He wants to tell us we are more than we are. 2. He wants to tell us God is less than He is." ~ Chris Tiegreen
