In our attempt to do a hundred good things, we may not do any of them well. We're not caught in the captivity of activity - hopping frantically in every direction, tongues dragging and lungs panting. We're dog tired. ~ Beth Moore

Post Christmas Prayer
Long after the angels disappear into the heavens, the shepherds return to their flocks, the magi journey home and the great star sets, Jesus remains.
The Child in whom we rediscover God’s great love for humanity becomes the adult Redeemer who challenges us to imitate his selflessness and compassion in order that we might transform our world in love…
May we allow the miracle of Christmas to continue long after the holiday trappings have been packed away;
May we welcome the adult Messiah and his challenging Gospel to recreate our lives, making the peace, justice and hope of this holy season a reality in every season of the new year.
~ Post-Christmas Prayer: CONNECTIONS, Jan.1, ‘95

Walk in Love
God would have us walk in love towards all who hold views contrary to those so dear to us. Nothing so tests the spirituality of a teacher as opposition to his teaching. ~ Watchman Nee.

You are the Reason
Jesus is the Season but we are the Reason. And so if you were important enough for Jesus to be born and die for, then you are important enough for Him to look out for. He is the Great Shepherd. A shepherd doesn't abandon the flock when going gets tough. In fact, it is in those times that the shepherd spends more time with the sheep so that they aren't afraid, that they are comforted in His presence. And so it is with us. He isn't going to leave us when the going gets a little rough.

The Battle
It is not a question of giving up sin, but of giving up my right to myself, my natural independence and self-assertiveness, and this is where the battle has to be fought. ~ Oswald Chambers

Come to the Stable...
What we really hunger for will not be found under the tree on Christmas morning. We hunger for meaning, for joy, for hope in the face of despair. We hunger to know that we can be forgiven and start anew after things we regret. We hunger for a love that will not let us go and for a life and triumph in the face of death. These come through a baby born in a stable, laid to sleep in a feeding trough, visited by night-shift shepherds. He is for us the bread of life. And we must come to the stable to satisfy the deepest desires of our hearts. ~ Adam Hamilton

In Christ
Now that I'm in Christ God's moral demands have not altered, but it is no longer I who meets them. Praise God, He who is the Lawgiver on the Throne is now also the Lawkeeper in my heart. ~ Watchman Nee

His Ways...
God hath divers ways into divers men. Into some he comes at noon, in the sunshine of prosperity; to some in the dark and heavy clouds of adversity. Some he affects with the music of the church; some, with some particular collect or prayer; some, with some passage of a sermon, which takes no hold of him that stands next to him. Watch the ways the Spirit of God into thee. ~ John Donne
