Giving Vs. Hoarding

Wealth shines in giving rather than in hoarding: for the miser is hateful, whereas the generous man is applauded. ~ Boethius

Do Less...

Instead of teaching us how to do more (time management), the Bible calls each of us to do less, and consequently, to receive peace and rest with God (time stewardship). Reversing time-warped living is about restoring our relationship with the Time Giver. …By doing less, we can have more of God.

Money Problem?

No church ever has a money problem, only a faithfulness problem. ~ Brian Kluth

Needs Supplied...

I was once young and now I am old, but not once have I been witness to God’s failure to supply my need when first I had given for the furtherance of His work. He has never failed in His promise, so I cannot fail in my service to Him. ~ William Carey

Give Until It...

Some people say, “Give till it hurts.” But God recommends that we give until it feels good. God loves a cheerful giver! ~ Brian Kluth

Measure of Our Spirituality

The measure of our spirituality is the amount of praise and of thanksgiving in our prayer.
~ David Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Increasing Dividends

The only investment I ever made which has paid consistently increasing dividends is the money I have given to the Lord. ~ James L. Kraft

Time is a Gift

Time is a gift. God gives time to us with certain expectations of how we’ll use it. However, our free will allows us to do whatever we want with it—good or bad. We can cherish our time, but we can also neglect it. We can hoard our time, but we can also share it. We can invest our time, but we can also squander it. ~ Steve Ganger

Three Conversions

People go through three conversions: their head, their heart and their pocketbook. Unfortunately, not all at the same time. ~ Martin Luther

Nothing...

One of the greatest missing teachings in the American church today is the reminder to men and women that nothing we have belongs to us.

Whispers through Weakness

God whispers to us through weakness, forms us through suffering, and answers our spirit’s deepest cries through the gap between ideal and real.

Eternal Marks

We humans want to make a name for ourselves. If we only understood that when we devote our lives to the glory of God, our existence on planet earth will leave marks - eternal marks. ~ Beth Moore

Insurance Policy?

How foolish that a man will insure life, home, car, everything except his soul, the only thing he will have a few years from now. ~ Vance Havner

Identify with HIS Interests

To be a disciple means that we deliberately identify ourselves with God's interests in other people. "That ye love one another; as I have loved you . . ."

Given Light...

God grants us light to the degree that He sees we genuinely desire to know His will and do it. ~ Watchman Nee

He Is With Us...

Jesus really is with us. Every minute, thought, and action is a duet. How it must pain Him when we live life like a solo. ~ Alicia Britt Chole

Weeping at HIS Feet

Sin has been glossed over; men do not regard themselves sinners and subsequently feel no burden of guilt, and of course no relief in His pardon. We bring Him verbal tribute, worldly compliments on Sunday, but few fall weeping at His feet. ~ Vance Havner

God's Will...

"The Word of God must shape us, the Spirit of God must fill us, and the purposes of God must become ours. Our minds must be renewed." Chris Tiegreen

2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. ~ Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Our Satisfaction or His?

Let us ask ourselves often: Does our work for Him minister first of all to our satisfaction, or to His?
~ Watchman Nee

Transformation Time

We each carry a certain amount of pain from our very birth. If that pain is not healed and transformed, it actually increases as we grow older, and we transmit it to people around us. We can become violent in our attitudes, gestures, words, and actions.
We must nip this process in the bud by acknowledging and owning our own pain, rather than projecting it elsewhere. For myself, I can’t pretend to be loving when inside I’m not, when I know I’ve thought cruel, judgmental, and harsh thoughts about others. At the moment the thought arises, I have to catch myself and hand over the annoyance or anger to God.

~ Richard Rohr

Experience Revival

Why is it easier to talk about revival than experience it? Because followers of Christ must become personally in the death and resurrection of Christ. And this requires repentance, prayer, watchfulness, self-denial, detachment from the world, humility, obedience, and cross carrying.
~ A.W. Tozer

Do yourself and your neighbors a great big favor. Don't wait for death to really live. Tell God you want to be neon sign of life - lingering proof of the resurrection. ~ Beth Moore

Man's Approval

The satisfaction man’s approval brings is always temporary. We have precious little control over its coming or going.
~ Alicia Britt Chole

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. ~ Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

A New Year's Prayer

"May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most,
and by making you anxious to be there to help.
God's love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead."

~ Anonymous

Resolution...

"As You Start This New Year... is one of your resolutions to start reading your Bible every day? Is this an area where you’ve been on-again, off-again, and you’d like to become consistent and regular in reading God’s Word every day this year? If you’ll allow the Holy Spirit to help you this year, you can win this victory in your life. And if you lapse and unintentionally skip a few days, don’t let the devil condemn you. Ask for forgiveness and get back on schedule." ~ Rick Renner

Prayer Means...

"Prayer does not mean simply to pour out one's heart. It means rather to find the way to God and to speak with Him, whether the heart is full or empty." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Blank Pages

"A new year – a book of blank pages waiting to be filled. It is easy to fall prey to doubts and questions about unknown days before me. But maybe God’s will for my life is far greater than knowing what path my life will take, what career choice I will make or what job change will occur. Maybe God’s will is simply for me to serve Him and love Him and share His love with others. So simple, yet so complete. There is no need for lofty resolutions, no need for fear – I will begin my days with prayer; I will listen, and God and I will walk together. He will help me through the rest, one day at a time."

~ Author Unknown

Begin Reading Your Bible This Very Day.

"The way to do a thing — is to do it; and the way to read the Bible — is actually to read it! It is not merely meaning, or wishing, or resolving, or intending, or thinking about it — which will advance you one step. You must positively read. There is no royal road in this matter, any more than in the matter of prayer. If you cannot read yourself, you must persuade somebody else to read it to you. But one way or another, through eyes or ears — the words of Scripture must actually pass before your mind." ~ J.C. Ryle
